Description: As a freelance project, I was tasked with designing a new logo for the University of Akron Press—a small but respected publisher of scholarly, literary, and general interest books. The goal was to create a distinct visual identity that could stand apart from the University of Akron, while still feeling connected.

The final logo merges modern design with literary symbolism. The overlapping “U” and “A” form a stylized shape reminiscent of a writing instrument, sitting above an open book and framed within a simplified crest. This mark reflects the Press’s deep commitment to storytelling, scholarship, and regional voices.

The clean lines, sans-serif typography, and subtle stained-glass structure give the logo a timeless, academic feel—bridging tradition and contemporary publishing. Designed to elevate visibility while honoring the Press’s mission, the identity is both functional and meaningful.
